JUMPING FOR JOY, AND JAIRO
We are so thrilled that it's hitting the shelves for the upcoming holiday season of joy, entertaining and gift giving. The newest member of the Villa Annaberta wine family is called Jairo, pronounced GYRO, which means amphora in the local Venetian dialect. With its tasteful orange accented label, it's impossible to miss on LCBO shelves. But what's inside the bottle is what really stands out. This red blend of Corvina grapes with a dash of Cabernet Sauvignon includes some partially dried grapes included in the fermentation to lend further smoothness, character and complexity. The bouquet greets with hints of concentrated red fruits. The finish is long and keeps lingering. An extremely complex wine for the money, it can be sipped on its own, or accompany party fare such as antipasto and cheeses or Christmas roasts.
2017 JAIRO IGT ROSSO LCBO #629022, $13.95.
