NATIONAL CHARDONNAY DAY, EH?
May 21st is National Chardonnay Day. To celebrate, we have the perfect, affordable example of North America’s most popular white wine varietal, available for purchase through LCBO Vintages.
BC’s Golden Mile in the Okanagan Valley, originally known for its gold and silver mines, is today famous for its wines. At one time, 60 % of the Okanagan’s wines were grown here. The Golden Mile is a sub-region south of the town of Oliver that lies on an east facing bench backed by gentle mountains. For the past 35 years, passionate winemaking by Gehringer Brothers Winery on the Golden Mile is reflected in the unparalleled level of consistent quality. The heart of North America’s most northern desert, is the home of Dry Rock Vineyards. The vineyard is known for its unique microclimate, southern exposure and rocky soils. Maintaining lower crop levels, offers higher concentrations of intense flavours. Chardonnay’s slow and cool fermentation in stainless steel without oak treatment and extended sur lie development contributes to its complexity and creamy texture. Distinctive nuances of pear and pineapple show on the palate. A great social or food wine, it is ideal with salads and seafood, though it will also pair well with most of today's lighter foods. STOP PRESS, a Platinum medal from the 19th Annual Wine Press North West Competition for this wine brings Gehringer Brothers’ total Platinum medal count to 70 over the last 18 years. 2018 GEHRINGER BROTHERS DRY ROCK VINEYARD UNOAKED CHARDONNAY V219642, $19.95.
