High Scoring and Delicious
Since it’s release, the Villa Annaberta Amarone della Valpolicella, has performed with outstanding results. Winning awards amongst top European wine competitions, it is only natural Villa Annaberta Amarone, would continue on to impress Canadian wine writers.
Most recently, Villa Annaberta Amarone was given a 91 point rating from Beppi Crosariol of the Globe and Mail. Published Saturday March 12th, 2016, Beppi gave the following praise for the Amarone: “A vibrant Amarone that’s fully ripe yet neither sticky nor syrupy. Plum and cherries mingle with notes of espresso, baking spices and cleansing acidity. So easy to drink, and well-priced for the style. Perfect for a main course of duck, steak or stew and also great for that classic Amarone pairing, the cheese course. Available in Ontario.”
Following this, Villa Annaberta Amarone received a five star rating from Canadian wine writer Rod Phillips. In the Spring 2016 edition of Vines Magazine, you can find the following review: “This is the usual three-way blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara varieties, but it’s an unusually delicious rendition of the style. Look for dense, rich fruit in the bottle, but it’s full of interest and comes at you in waves of flavours. They have breadth, depth and very good structure. Their intensity is moderated by an effective acid support, and the tannins are firm and sweet. You could drink this now, but I would hold it a little longer and drink it by the early 2020s.”
